For some of you, October brings sweater weather, while for others it means it is finally starting to be t-shirt time! One thing that unites us all, no matter where we are, is PSL. That’s right folks, Starbucks’ very famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. But you know what else is equally delicious? All of the other fall goodies that make us wish it was always fall season! It’s inevitable to not think about pumpkin pie, candied yams, and anything else orange.

As we continue to work towards earning emblems and Higher Awards- lets also acknowledge and embrace the fall season! This month’s emblems tie perfectly in as they focus on cooking and the essentials of following recipes and instructions. In addition, Rangers can work on their Model Design badge which means lots of learning and building. In addition, Rangers can work on the model design in pumpkin carving terms! However, this may look for your local corps, please do share on our SAY Resources Facebook page!

Since each troop can earn two emblems a month, the Guarding program can focus on Red Ribbon week being in the second half of October! Here’s a link for more information on this campaign, sponsored by National Family Partnership!

In the meantime, Explorers can work on wrapping up their Membership and being recognized for meeting the requirements of being an Explorer. Rangers will be able to work on their Water Safety badge in order to start going for their first Ranger star!
