LEARNING TO LOVE
“If one part (of the body) hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt…If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.” – 1 Cor 12:26
LEARNING TO LOVE is a 3 part video series that was created to help those in ministry better understand the special needs population and their families. Through starting conversations with those closest to the special needs community, we hope to bring awareness, break down barriers, and learn to love them better.
EPISODE 1: Physical Disabilities
80% of families with special needs children do not attend church. We sit down with Major Nancy Helms of The Salvation Army and Jennifer Felix of Crossroads Church to understand why this is and how we can do better.
EPISODE 2: Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorder is one of the fastest growing diagnoses but is one of the most misunderstood. We talk with Chris Toy & Captain Christina Arnold to break down myths and gain a better understanding.
EPISODE 3: ADHD
ADHD is one of the most prevalent cognitive disorders but as leaders, we don’t always know what that means or how to respond when one of our youth needs our support. In this episode, we talk with Mathijs Arens about his experience with ADHD and Kelly Rodriguez, MFT.
We value your time and want to help you effectively engage the special needs community. Below, you will find a few ways to take action.
