Passage is a one-year leadership development program for Salvation Army camp leaders and those aspiring to be more fully engaged in camping ministries across the country.

2025-2026 Cohorts
Sojourn (Emerging)
Sojourn is a leadership development program designed for emerging Salvation Army leaders with 5 or less years of camping ministry experience and minimal formal training in youth-oriented ministry.
Quest (Mid-Career)
Quest is a leadership development program designed for Salvation Army leaders with 6 or more years of camp ministry experience and/or are currently in senior level leadership at their camp and looking for reinvigorated vision and skills for the next phase of their career.

What Can I Expect from Passage?

Small Group Training
Participants will connect (virtually) once a month to discuss monthly readings and reflective learning tasks including viewing videos, writing short responses, analyzing/critiquing existing organizations/programs, and more.

Community Building
Passage participants will establish a network of resources and support within their cohort and form long-lasting relationships with Salvation Army camp leaders from around the nation.

Retreats & Conferences
Passage members will participate in three separate in-person retreats:
- Launch Retreat
- CCCA National Conference
- Concluding Retreat
Leadership
Dr. Rob Ribbe
Dr Rob Ribbe, Associate Professor of Outdoor and Adventure Leadership at Wheaton College has 35 years of professional camp ministry leadership. Rob has taught camp ministry leadership around the globe.
Ed Covert
Ed Covert, M.A. is a graduate of the MA in Outdoor and Adventure Leadership and has over 30 years of leadership in Salvation Army Camping.
Dr. Rachael Botting
Dr. Rachael Botting, A.B.D. is an adjunct professor in the Outdoor and Adventure Leadership program at Wheaton Graduate School. She has nearly 10 years of program leadership and teaching in Wheaton’s MA program.
