Pen Pal Project

The Pen Pal Project is designed to help Salvation Army youth from the USA Western Territory connect with Salvation Army youth from around the world. The concept is simple, Corps Officers, youth leaders, or YPSM’s can sign their youth group up to be matched with a youth group from another country. For each child that is signed up, we will do our best to match them with a Pen Pal of their same age and gender. We even offer a template that can be used for their first letter. Letters can be sent via postal mail (using the Corps’ address) or email (using the CO or youth leader’s TSA email address). Pen Pals are invited to correspond as often as they like. Participation in the Pen Pal Project is voluntary.

Guidelines:

Child Safety and a great Pen Pal experience are very important to us so we have set the following guidelines for participants and leaders:

  • Pen Pals are encouraged to correspond through written letters addressed to the Corps. They may also correspond through their Corps Officers’ or youth leaders’ TSA email address if that is preferred by everyone involved.
  • Personal information such as home address and cell phone number should not be shared by minors. Social media accounts may be shared with parental consent only. Photos may be shared with parental consent only. Proper parental consent standards must be followed in accordance with the rules of your division and territory.
  • Fundraising support for specific projects is acceptable through proper channels only (ie. through the appropriate Salvation Army Finance Departments)
