What is a Redwood Group?

A Redwood Group is a group of people who share a common interest or hobby and spend time talking about Jesus as they do that interest or hobby together. Redwood Groups create opportunities for members to learn from one other and can be leveraged to engage young adults in community, discipleship, and outreach, with the ultimate goal being life transformation.

Why Redwood Groups?

We believe that when people meet in Redwood Groups regularly, it has the potential to grow each person’s relationship with God and impact how they live out their faith on a daily basis. A LifeWay Research study recently surveyed 2,930 Protestant, American adults to learn more about the relationship between small group participation and the practice of spiritual disciplines outside of the Sunday Worship service. Survey respondents were asked to select how often they practiced the spiritual disciplines listed in the following table. The percentage shows how many respondents said that they practice each spiritual discipline listed daily or at least a few times per week. The study shows that those who participated in a small group at least four times per month practiced the spiritual disciplines significantly more often than those who did not participate in a group.[1]

Redwood groups provide the opportunity to practice spiritual disciplines more often through intentional activities and time and spent in community. Participating in a Redwood Group on a regular basis truly has the potential to grow each members relationship with God and impact how they live out their faith on a daily basis.
